and you can only grant the power of attorney to do things that you have

Only the donor can make the decision to create a power of attorney and if
you instruct a solicitor or advice worker to draft one for you, the solicitor
or advice worker should only accept instructions or authorisation from you,
whether in person or in writing, and not, for example, from the person who
is to become your attorney.
